amstergardens

i am struggling with the idea of adding more text. i realize i may want to remember what the lives of us adults were like as well, while finley grows up. however, i don't want to take away attention from finley, the star of this show. i'll do this for the next few posts. feedback is welcome. here are some randoms to start us off.

jess takes fin and vera to longwood gardens a lot. she is back to working 2 days a week for november and december and still plans fun stuff for fin on her days off. we hoped to go back all together while the leaves were in peak fall colors, but our plans got washed out by hurricane sandy, and so did the pretty leaves.

shout out to melony at amsterdinner. we meet with friends at la tolteca. they first met there to plan a trip to amsterdam and dubbed it "amsterdinner". they invited us because la tolteca is 2 blocks from our house. in fact, i probably should have asked the amstercommittee if it was ok to title this post "amstergardens". anyway, i couldnt make it to this gathering since i got a cold. melony took finley for the whole meal, like a boss! jess was really appreciative.

just so i dont forget. this kid is super cute. this picture will help me remember.

sarah

so, one of the things i want to remember is the "sarah and newborn finley chemistry". Sarah has got the touch. shoot, did i capitolize a word there? my apologies. sarah has got the touch. there are some other family members that have a good way with fin, but sarah and fin have a special thing going. sarah comes over, chills on the couch and holds fin. fin sleeps, and sleeps and sleeps, then grumbles for 3 seconds, then sleeps and sleeps. then, finley falls into a deep sleep. even when fin isnt sleeping in sarahs arms, he is sleeping in her arms. thats how good sarah is. but when finley is actually awake and sarah is holding him, he seems pretty happy. so, here are some pictures of the sleeping.

i know its hard to see past the cuteness of finley, but look behind him. yep, thats me in the background chillin with a goblet of wine, comfortable knowing that my son is in good hands with an aunt like sarah.

aunt jane

so, aunt jane has a way with both of our kids. our family has a lot of respect for jane's skills although i probably don't say it enough. we really look (ed) forward to jim and jane's visit because we know how much jane has to offer our kids and because we like jane too! here is an example of aunt jane's awesomeness with the fin.

jane chills with fin while we do stuff (create wind blocks, create more wind blocks to light grills to cook food, cook food, go for walks with vera, head into the dunes, take a short swim in the ocean, eat food, hang out with vera, etc...)
